North Carolina quarterback Max Johnson, who suffered a broken leg in the Tar Heels’ opener, plans to return for the 2025 season. Johnson, a transfer from LSU and Texas A&M, started the game but was injured in the third quarter. With Johnson out for the season, sophomore Conner Harrell takes over as the team’s starting quarterback. Former backup Jacolby Criswell moves up to the second string. If Johnson is granted a medical redshirt, he will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
