A study indicates that Xolair, an asthma medication, may reduce severe allergic reactions in individuals with multiple food allergies. The medication demonstrated a reduction in the severity of allergic reactions in adults and children who were exposed to peanuts, milk, egg, wheat, and other foods. The US FDA expanded its approval of Xolair for individuals with food allergies. The study’s researchers believe Xolair could potentially decrease allergic reactions in cases where a person consumes multiple allergenic foods simultaneously. Xolair could provide protection against anaphylaxis resulting from accidental food exposure.
