Babies in Australia with peanut allergies are being offered a groundbreaking treatment aimed at building tolerance to peanuts. This nationwide program, a collaboration between the National Allergy Centre of Excellence and the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, provides infants under 12 months with a carefully planned daily dosing schedule of peanut powder over two years. The objective is to shift the approach from strict avoidance to tolerance and potentially achieving remission. The program is already underway in ten pediatric hospitals across five states and will be evaluated for expansion based on its success.
