More homes, data centers planned for new subdivisions filed with city

San Antonio's housing market is showing signs of stabilization after a turbulent year.

While real estate professionals are still adamant that the market can't be understood in macro-terms, and that a more granular understanding is required to grasp the current landscape there are some numbers which do remarkably well to portray the big picture.

The city is overburdened by the glut of undeveloped lots. To get rid of it, the city needs to start more homes. Horton (NYSE DHI), who control over a third in San Antonio's housing production market, is the dominant player.

Data also shows that the South and West side are still the premier homebuilding markets. However, recent news from San Antonio Water System indicates a possible surge in the Southeast and Northeast. Experts said that increased water infrastructure is the key to denser growth in these areas.

San Antonio is planning a new commercial data center. San Antonio is maintaining its status as a cloud computing superpower.
