It was a long day of bowling that ended with a delay at AMF Noble Manor Lanes, which delayed competition for several hours. Saturday's final frame saw the Western Pennsylvania Regional boys team championships.

In the decisive third match of the best-of-three final, the champion was won by 147-145. Cam Elder scored two strikes and a seven count in an open frame to give the Spartans a narrow victory.

Only 12 pins were left after qualifying, which included three Baker games and six team games.

Shaler was defeated by Franklin Regional.

The all-tournament team included's Luke Shevchik and Shaler's Braden Scott from Shaler, as well as Plum's Cade Schimmer.

Harmon (268) and Shevchik (256) were the highest-scoring qualifiers.

Hempfield also won the WPIBL boys title last week and will try to complete the hat-trick at the state tournament March 18, in Erie.

The girls regional tournaments will be held at AMF Noble Manor Lanes on March 10-11.
