Brookwood Baptist Medical Center completes $30M project

Brookwood Baptist Medical Center is soon to open a new operating room of 18,822-square feet.

The hospital broke the ground on a $30 million project on Nov. 10, 2020.

The new structure will add 10 operating rooms to Brookwood, instead of the 13 originally planned at the start of the project. A spokesperson stated that the suites would be bigger and more advanced in technology, which will allow for a wider range of specialties to be performed.

CEO Jeremy Clark said, "This project's completion is an outstanding accomplishment for our hospital and will have a huge impact on Birmingham and its surrounding communities." These OR suites allow us to accommodate more specialized surgery, such as advanced neurosurgical and orthopedic procedures and robotically assisted minimally invasive operations. Brookwood Baptist Medical Center is experiencing a very exciting time.

The project is on track to be completed. When the project started, it was expected to be completed in early 2023. Robins & Morton completed 60 projects for Brookwood Baptist Church since 2000. Evan Terry & Associates was the architect of this project.

Clark, the hospital's director of technology, said that the compression-free breast CT is one of the few machines of its kind available in Alabama.
