2023 Outstanding Diverse Organization: Castillo Engineering

Castillo Engineering has been selected as the winner of the Outstanding Diverse Organisation, Small Companies category at Orlando Business Journal's Diversity in Business Awards 2023.
Castillo Engineering, with more than 25 years of experience, has completed over 1.5 gigawatts in solar and storage energy projects. They provide full-service engineering, consulting, and design services for solar and storage energy.
In the past year, CEO and co-owner Christopher Castillo challenged himself to make the team more inclusive. This has resulted in 87% of staff being Black and Indigenous People of Color, women, and/or foreigners, he stated.
Castillo was also recently honored as a member of OBJ's 40 Under 40 for 2023, in part because he led his company to an overall growth of 60% compared to the year 2021.
Castillo has more to offer:
What is the diversity mission of your company? Castillo is a minority owned business. Diversity and inclusion are critical for Castillo to succeed. Everyone is empowered, and the firm and clients trust everyone. We are proud to be you at Castillo. We speak ten languages and eight different nationalities.
What have you done in the past year to promote greater diversity, equity, and inclusion? Beyond scaling up the company and achieving a greater impact on the clean energy economy I have also focused on increasing opportunities for diverse employees. This is something that the clean-energy industry has been known to lack. The company has also been certified as a Great Place to Work based on an extensive employee survey conducted by a third-party. Castillo Engineering is an example of how greater diversity and inclusion leads to greater innovation and greater returns.
